Description of DivX Play Bundle
This bundle includes the DivX Player and DivX codec. Both are free and no adware is included in the package. The DivX Player plays all AVI and .divx files that contain DivX video and MP3 audio, and enables access to DivX Video-on-Demand services. The DivX codec extends DivX playback support to all popular media players. This package supports English, French, German, and Japanese languages.

| fyi, divx (along with other such codecs like xvid) are mpeg4 codecs. Media Player also has a mpeg4 codec, usually a new version with each new release of the software. As previously stated early versions of divx were infact a rip of microsofts implementation of the mpeg4 codec, whilst later versions are totally re-written. Usually, there's not a great deal between the varying mpeg4 codecs as they're all based on the same standards. Some people say the new windows media9 codecs out perform the latest div-x codecs, but of course divx has the benefit of being cross platform.. at least microsoft are looking at getting windows media implementations on to linux and other platforms. Recently with the opening up of the realplayer codec i've heard rumours of the Realmedia codec wiping the floor with both divx/xvid/wm9/qt.. and the best part is with certain players you wont even need to use realplayer to watch the files.
In the mean time divx just has great portability, so a lot of people still use it, and it's by no means a bad codec. :D |

| Not bad but I had to use ad-aware to get rid of the spyware. It does help to use an updated reference file too. This is not bad for an alpha version.

| Sorry folks. The current version of ad-aware can't clean it all. Don't bother with the pro bundle yet. |

| This pro-bundle installs Gator on it. So far it seems to work if you use adaware to remove it though. |

| I would have to agree. They should not only include it in a new release of Windows but Linux and Mac versions of various multimedia should have it as well. |

| I think that only 3.11 alpha was hacked M$ codec. DivX 4 is programmed from scratch. |
