| yENC is now part of Agent. Meaning you can download and participate in discussions with this, the father of all news-clients.
Version 2.0 is on the way. Let's hope they include multiple servers, multiple threads, segment reposting and maybe even integral PAR-checking into it :) |

| This client used to be THE news-reader, back in the last century. The mother of all newsreaders and still more functionality than nearly all the others in the field.
The major problem with all versions (including 1.9) is that it lacks support for yEnc. yEnc is a new encoding standard that is rapidly taking over all the binaries-newsgroups. Until Agent supports yEnc in a next version I would suggest leaving this version in the history books and not on your PC as soon you won't be able to download any binaries/programs/movies/etc... with this version of Agent.
Programs like BNR2, NewsPro, Xnews, Newsbin and News Rover all DO suppport yEnc so pick one of those. |
